Risk engineering management study for the new Athens Metro Line 4, consisting of approximately 13 km of tunnels and 15 underground stations. Objectives were to:
A) Identify/assess the main hazards and high-risk elements of the project
B) Develop risk mitigation strategies
C) Provide recommendations on alternative conceptual configurations for the identified high-risk elements
D) Identify opportunities for project optimization, and
E) Provide recommendations for the Geotechnical Baseline Report
Having recognized the importance and benefits of risk engineering management in the early stages of complex underground metro projects, ATTIKO METRO SA engaged Ruler Consult to carry out a comprehensive risk study of the new Metro Line 4 of the Athens Metro prior to its tender stage.
The primary objectives set were to identify the main hazards, assess the high risk elements of the project, develop risk mitigation strategies, provide recommendations on alternative configuration to reduce the risks and identify opportunities for project optimization.
Our experience working with Ruler has been a refreshing change. Their team is very experienced, with cutting edge and best practice knowledge and was very capable in understanding our targets and adopting a collaborative approach.
They presented in a timely manner and always with a quick turn around, a holistic overview of the project risks and made targeted recommendations to mitigate them to acceptable levels. It was a rewarding experience working with Ruler Consult which resulted in significantly reducing the risk profile of the project and in adopting best practice risk initiatives for the tender process.
We are extremely pleased with our collaboration and we certainly recommend Ruler Consult. We will continue to work alongside them in the future.
